WHY I'M EATING MY PLACENTA

I am sure you have heard about this some way or another. When I first came across videos on the internet with women talking about eating their placentas, I was intrigued. After researching the benefits online and hearing about it from my doula, I decided to eat my placenta. Gross right? Fun little fact, most mammals consume their placenta after the birth of their offspring.

I am not actually eating it, I am digesting it in capsule form known as placenta encapsulation. It worked wonders for me after the birth of my first son Oliver-Bradley so I decided I needed to do it again this time around.

In fact I completely swear by it and would never go without doing it in the future. Look online and find a place closest to you as many places offer this service.

When you have something in front of you that reduces the risk of postpartum depression, you take it right? Also, I am not sure how I would have the energy to run a blog and corporation all while breastfeeding a newborn on no sleep. Placenta pills give you as "coffee buzz" style pick me up. Check out the top 9 reasons why I did this and I can back up that this was TRUE for me. I am not kidding you!

Here are the top 9 reasons why it is important for your health postpartum.

  1. Decrease in postpartum depression levels

  2. Increase in CRH, a stress-reducing hormone

  3. Increased release of the hormone oxytocin, which helps the uterus return to normal size and encourages bonding with the infant

  4. Increased daily energy

  5. Increase in milk production

  6. Restoration of iron levels in the blood

  7. Reduce post-natal bleeding

  8. Increased quality of sleep

  9. Make for a happier, more enjoyable postnatal period
