The most common piece of advice wedding couples give after their big day is, "enjoy it, it goes by really fast!"
This is true for most special occasions and good times, but with weddings you have most likely spent $30,000+ and want to ENSURE you enjoy every moment possible. To put things into perspective, if you spent $30k on your wedding and your wedding was from 3pm to 12am, your wedding costs you $55.55 per minute. You better make sure you enjoy every damn minute!
With such a big day and a lot of pressure, it can some times be difficult to be present and enjoy yourself.
We have put together these top 5 things you can do to be present and experience all this special day has to offer.
1. HAVE AN UNPLUGGED CEREMONY
It is just as important for your guests to experience the present moment as they are contributors to the fun and excitement. Nothing is worse than walking down an isle to have 50 cell phones pointed at you. What you really want is to see their eyes, the smiles on their faces, and the tears rolling down their cheeks. All of this emotion charges how you feel and what you experience when saying, "I Do," to the love of your life.
2. HIRE A DAY OF COORDINATOR
The less people ask you questions or approach you regarding the event logistics, the better. It is your special day and you don't need to worry about the little details, uncle Ricky having too much to drink and being an ass, or cousin Carl lighting the curtains on fire. Have an expert handle all things event related for you. The coordinators job is to give you peace of mind and for you not to know if something doesn't go quite as planned.
3. DON'T SKIP THE REHEARSAL DINNER
This isn't improv, so don't treat your wedding as such. You have spent months planning the big day and should have a practice run to ensure a smooth flow. The whole team needs to practice together and the rehearsal dinner is your opportunity to work out the kinks.
4. SET POSITIVE INTENTIONS WITH YOUR WEDDING PARTY
The power of intentions is incredible! People often skip setting intentions because they feel it is not important or feel weird doing it. Get these thoughts out of your head! You are the center of attention on your special day and people will be looking to you for how they should approach it. Setting intentions with your wedding party the night before or morning of allows all members to feel connected, in sync, and involved.
5. TAKE MENTAL SNAP SHOTS
Constantly stop throughout the day and take mental snap shots with your mental camera. When you are experiencing the beauty of the present moment, say out loud "click." Subconsciously your brain will associate the click with storing a memory. It is scientifically proven that when you are present, time seems to slow down. You can capture and remember your experience with more vividness in the future. Don't let the day be one big blur, let it be a sequence of unforgettable memories. You deserve it!
We hope you find at least one of the above tips useful for experiencing your wedding day to the fullest. Remember that these tips are not only useful for your wedding day, but can be applied to your every day life.
If you have other helpful tips please share them as your suggestions can be other peoples breakthroughs.
